The Shergold
Missionary Church will reopen on Sunday, September 5th, after 9 months
of being closed due to a fire in December. The fire started in the chapels and
spread to the Christmas tree and wreaths and enveloped the pews after a candle
was unknowingly left burning after Sunday Mass. The Shergold family, who opened
the original church when they moved to the town in 1906, has been working to
get the Church back to even better than its original state. “We were saddened when
the Church burnt down, but realized that this could be a chance to improve our
Church and bring us closer to God” says family owner Lisa Shergold. Her husband,
Victor Shergold, has lead mass in the orchard on Sundays while waiting for the
renovation to be complete. Both wish to see you for the Grand Reopening.
